Build soil resilience and protect your precious garden resource from weather extremes.

Master the art and science of 'hot' and 'cold' composting methods to turn your organic wastes – even garden pests and weeds - into life-giving compost. 

Learn how easy a worm farm or Bokashi CompostZing System is for turning any food wastes into nutrient and microbe-rich compost. These are great space-saving methods that even children can use.

12 places available and Outram address details given at booking. Proudly supported by Dunedin City Council.

Please note:

  • workshop runs from 1-5pm, refreshments provided.

  • bring gloves, (secateurs and a garden fork if you have them), and a notebook can be handy

  • cameras welcome 

  • wear sturdy, closed in footwear, and be prepared for any weather

  • if you have any food scraps to spare please bring them for the heap, but no meat, onion, bread

  • If the weather isn’t great, we can adapt the day to work mostly indoors in the warm, and find the ‘gap’ in the weather to build the heap.
