Dig deep into Otago’s history as you learn how to pan for gold at Toitū!

1.30pm–2.30pm & 3pm–4pm

Get your hands dirty searching for gold in pure New Zealand soil brought in especially for the occasion from an area known for its gold properties and learn about the history of the Otago goldfields from the Museum team.

Please note, this event is weather dependent and will be held in the uncovered outdoor area by the Museum entrance, please dress for the weather conditions. 

Hosted by Toitū Otago Settlers Museum: Museum of social history dedicated to telling the story of the people of Dunedin and the surrounding area. Fourteen themed galleries feature interactive displays and powerful narratives tracing the human history of the area, from the earliest settlers to the most recent arrivals.
